THE SETTING
Our school
buildings are
located on 3 acres of lawns, gardens, sand and pines. The handsome
grounds include an extensive fenced-in playground which provides a
natural setting for fresh air and freedom of movement. The innovative
play equipment is designed for imaginative play and natural physical
challenges. Children run, climb, swing, dig, and explore in our
spacious, open campus.
THE FACILITY
In a large cottage style schoolhouse there are seven warm and homey
classrooms. Each is on the ground floor with its own entrance, toilet
facility, and direct access to the playground. A separate cottage houses
two toddler classrooms. Our outdoor environment includes barns and
pens for our barnyard animals, a vegetable
garden, flower gardens, bird feeding stations and easy access to the
neighboring woods, trails, and ponds of the Closter Nature Center.

THE STAFF
Each class has two teachers with a class size averaging 18 students.
Each lead teacher has either a Baccalaureate or a Masters in Education
or a related field. All of the teachers continue their professional
development through continuing education. We have a committed core of
teachers that have been with the school for over ten years.
THE CHILDREN
We accept children from a toddler age of 2 up to pre-kindergarten.
Currently we offer three pre-K classes, two classes of 3 year olds, and
two
toddler classes. Our open enrollment is based on a first come first
served acceptance. The Lindgren Nursery School and Camp admits students
of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin.

SESSIONS
We offer morning,
afternoon, or full day sessions for three, four or five days a week. The
morning session is from 9:15 to 11:45 am. The afternoon session is from
1:00 to 3:30 pm. A full day session is 9:15 to 3:30. We also offer a
lunch hour, before school care from 8:00 am and after school care till
5:30 pm. Childcare is also available at our facility during most school
vacations.
TRANSPORTATION
School bus transportation is provided, for pick-up and/or drop-off,
within a reasonable distance. This service is offered for a fee and
there are a limited number of seats.
THE PARENTS
Parents and
guardians come into the classroom each day to sign-in their child. The
teachers appreciate the opportunity to keep in touch with parents daily
so that either the parent or the teacher can communicate any events or
concerns for that day. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled during
two days in January, though parents are encouraged to arrange for a
conference at any time there is a need. Parents are welcome in the
classroom if they wish to observe or to bring their own interests or
talents to the children. Any formal visit is always pre-arranged.

ORIENTATION
DAY
Prior to the first day of school we offer an orientation session for the
children and their parents. At this time children and parents have the
opportunity to meet their teachers, become familiar with their
classrooms and meet other students. Teachers will
speak about classroom routines and curriculum. Practical information
will be shared so that the teachers and parents may work together to
insure an easy transition to school.
FALL POT-LUCK SUPPER
In the fall
we host a back to school Pot-Luck Supper for all our families. It
is a wonderful time to reunite with old friends, meet some new, and
enjoy some delicious treats as well.
SPRING FAMILY
PICNIC
Each May, as the weather warms and the gardens begin to bloom, the
entire school community comes together for a family picnic and art show.
The children prepare edible treats and the teachers create a beautiful
display of their students' artwork. Each year we look forward to seeing
mothers and fathers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, and
alumni.
ADMISSION
AND REGISTRATION PROCESS
We encourage interested
families to contact our school to
arrange a tour. We will also be glad to send our brochure
and application materials. A DVD about the school and camp can be
downloaded from our home page.
